River fishing doing great

I have been fishing little bits (half hour here, 45 min there) in between cleaning, rooms pulling weeds and checking people in. I can’t travel far so most of my fishing has been here in town near the park. I have been catching several fish each time topped off by a nice 5-6lb fish yesterday evening. They are forcasting afternoon winds all week and the temps have dropped. The lake shore is filling up with RV’s for the derby this weekend. Looks to be a big turnout.

Wide open fishing

As of today March 16, The fishing has been wide open after some problems at the hatchery forced them to release all the fish they were holding. I fished off the beach here at the Lodge for all you wanted catch and release fishing. Salmon eggs, crickets and spinners were all doing well. Fly fishermen are doing best on Kern Candy, Glo Bugs and Buggers. Feel free to post your reports here.

Kern River Fishing, Trophy Trout

Along with the standard fish, 150 trophy trout were planted in the Kern River on wednesday. I watched several fishermen having success in the park and up river from the lodge. Heading out now to give it a try for a few minutes befor the rain comes. Will report back soon. Expect the Kern River fishing to be back to normal.
